Wow. Wow. I loved it! Great characters. So much action, drama, and twists. Just wish the story was longer. But the character development is terrific. I'm getting book 2 now!!!
The prequel is a nice start to the novelet. The story move along well, holds the reader's attention. Can't wait to star the next book.
Wow! Theresa Kay is officially my new favorite author.

This short story was amazing, made me feel so many different kind of emotions. I loved spitfire Eva, her character was simply impossible not to love.

"The first time I met Thomas Markham I punched him in the nose, right between his ice blue eyes."

Ah, what a great start of a wonderful love story. I have to admit I'm not a fan of switching between present and past, I usually hate it infact, but in this novella it didn't bother me at all. It was really well done.

Eva had to work hard to become squad leader. I admired her strenght. Theresa Kay knows how to write strong female heroines.

But, as always in life, when you think your life is finally great and you have everything you hoped for, something bad happens.

That ending killed me!!! Now I have to wait whole year for a sequel!!! Exact publication date unknown, no blurb, no cover, nothing. And I need this book NOW!!!

I never thought a short little novella could suck me in as much as this one did.
It's a super quick read - but there is SO much packed into it.

It flashes between present and past, giving us a great (quick) back story of Eva, Thomas, Nathan and Harvey.

Even though this was short - it didn't feel rushed for me. I was able to understand what happened between Eva and Thomas in the past, and felt content with how the author presented it... at the moment, I didn't need more of the past.

The present however... WHAT THE HELL?!?! I mean... I just.... WHAT?!?!

Ugh... I need more. MORE! I just.... sigh... I have no words. It's amazing... I cannot wait for a full novel to come out to continue this story.
Well written story with good cast and ideas and movement. Should be a beat series is you follow. Quick and enthralling read.
Oh dear lord, how can such a short novella kill me this much?? And yet, it did.

This novella is told switching between glimpses of the past and the present. I can sometimes find these hard to follow, but Ms. Kay did a fantastic job of making it very clear what was going on in each section and when each section was. It was spaced out really well so that each glimpse into the past added to what was going on in the present. And such great characters -- loved Eva so much. Her nickname of Spitfire was perfect. And the trio of boys....oh man, from the first introduction, I was in love.

Yup, it had humour, action, romance, so many feels, and an epic ending. It's going to be excruciating to wait for the first novel in this series, but I will wait with baited breath. )

I was given an early copy of this novella from the author, but it was so good I decided I needed my own copy complete with fabulous cover....
Just a big fat WOW! This was a well written prequel to a series that has me super excited to read it!

It wasnt a very long story but you didnt feel like anything was left out. You got to know and love the characters. You have your heart strings tugged around and your left with a build up to what must be an amazing story.

Theresa Kay is a fabulous writer. She does a great job building her characters, her description of various scenes are perfect and give you the feeling of being right there in the book.

I cant wait to see what happens next!
